March 9th- Teacher Work Day, No School for Students March 18th- Food Lion Walking Field Trip Spelling words for March: March 2-6: there, can, bed, all, her, too March 10-13: now, that, through, hear, with, sleep March 16-20: you, sound, what, off, dark, eyes March 23-27: Review / Post Assessment Unique Learning Systems: Light and Sound on the Move! We will be learning about the sources of light and sound and investigating how light and sound travel. We will be reading a story called What Makes That Sound? and It Was Too Dark. Our vocabulary words this month are: dark, eyes, ray, source, ears, hear, see, vibrate, energy, light, sound, wave. Math: We have finished our unit on graphs and all students participated in a post unit assessment this past month. We are entering a new unit on measurement this month. We will be doing a lot of fun activities this month involving measurement while reviewing graphs as well. We will be planting seedlings this month to grow and measure over the course of the next couple of months. Reading: This month in reading we will continue to work through our Recipe for Reading Program. We will be reading a story called Tish the Fish to review our -sh and -th blends from last month. We are learning the letters w, y, v, and digraph "wh" this month. We will read the story A Wish for a Yak which focuses on decoding strategies with the letters and digraphs we have learned so far. A monthly choice homework grid has been sent home with your child. This is something new that I am trying and I would love your feedback as I work to collaborate with each of you as you work with your child at home each night. Please complete with your child as you are able and return to the class by the end of the month.
